Fire doors — also commonly known as FR (fire-resistant) doors — are designed to maintain compartmentation between different areas of a building and to hinder the spread of fire and smoke for a set period of time.
They are a key element of fire compartmentation, particularly at openings between sectors, stairwells, technical areas, car parks, industrial buildings and other spaces that require compartmentation.
For a fire door to do its job properly, installing it is not enough. It is essential that both the door itself and its components are in good condition and working correctly.
